Falling In Love With Photographs
I have always had a heart for photography, although never had the time (or let’s face it…the talent) to get into it. So what do I do? I make friends… When you make tutus, costumes, headpieces, superhero capes and custom props, chances are you are going to be good friends with several photographers. The ever amazing Mandy from LotusLily Photography has been a huge supporter of Happy Ballerina for quite some time now, but we have yet to be able to get together for a photoshoot of myself and my little ballerinas…until just recently and let me tell you, I am absolutely in love.
Mandy and I have played around with ideas for photo shoots for our mutual clients over the years, but when I approached her about doing a session for myself and my girls her immediate answer was “you all need to wear matching tutus!”. So of course I was game! I started planning out tutu colors, lengths, outfits and accessories right away and finished everything just in the nick of time (like literally 30 minutes before we had to leave for our photoshoot!). Mandy was ecstatic to say the least when I texted her a picture of the tutus!
The photo shoot was scheduled in the historic area of downtown Wilmington, NC and the weather couldn’t have been better. After a few family shots in “normal” outfits, Mandy declared it was tutu time and we quickly changed up and galavanted around downtown in all our glory. Everyone who passed by stopped the girls to tell them how cute they were, to admire their tutus and to oooh and ahhh over them (they ate it up BTW…such hams!). Mandy took some great shots as we made our way to Kilwins, an adorable homemade ice cream shop in the heart of downtown Wilmington. The girls each ordered ice cream in their delicious, freshly made waffle cones and we set out to find a place for the girls to enjoy them and capture the magic on film. Icecream was eaten, giggles ensued, tutus were covered in waffle pieces and melted ice cream goodness…but the best part of it all had to be the memories captured by Mandy. Here are just a few sneak peeks of the amazingness that took place, the love and ice cream shared and the loves of my life… my beautiful, happy ballerinas.
